If you have misgivings about any project, don't do it. You aren't clear to me about your "neurological" issues. Are they the kind that makes you anxious--impair your perception or reflexes--make you hear voices--fall down in seizures--what? Do they get in the way of being safe and responsible? What kind of feedback did your trainer give you?
I have MS, I can’t run or I will I fall on my ass.. I walk like Frankenstein… it’s my legs that are screwed…
Aha. Did you know, ivermectin has some promise for MS? You might try it. As to carrying a gun, you have to be able to move your head so you can aim. So, are you saying you want to open carry as an intimidation measure? If you have obvious difficulty moving I'd say you would only be making yourself a target for someone who says to himself I can snatch his gun, he's not able to wrestle over it.
My MS friend open carries with his two canes in hand. Can you point and shoot and do you feel safer carrying? Then "carry" on.
One of my issues , it is hard to keep your head on a swivel when you have to look at the ground…
I had the same questions also. Do you trust yourself Yinz?
Open carry gives away one of your most powerful advantages, the element of surprise. Not to mention that showing a firearm attracts negative attention from leftists and other loons. Concealed ftw
Trust your gut. The fact that you are asking makes me believe that you have some reservations or doubt. If that is so, it is better to be safe and not carry. I have a brother that has MS and he carries only in his vehicle, never on his person. It might be possible that it could be taken from you if you were to fall to the ground and be used against you.
If unsure, it's good to ask.
My advice, for what nothing it's worth, is don't.
The right is guaranteed, but that doesn't mean you must avail yourself of it, especially on a day-to-day, no-particular-need basis.
If you have doubts about your ability to accurately and competently assess situations on the fly as they develop around you in real time you should consider if your carrying just makes you a liability to those around you.
I don't carry because I have personality quirks that cause me to get extremely aggressive when confronted. Not a good mix for firearms.
I can’t clean someone’s clock anymore…
That's why I suggest finishing the course and then decide.
Then, at least, you have that fig leaf of legal cover if a situation does go bad.
I’m tiny.. and middle aged, and a real woman… it makes a difference.
Well heck. You need to tell us these details up front.
Before you decide, I suggest you finish the course.
I'm not quite sure what type of advice you are looking for but err on the side of caution. It all depends on how comfortable you feel in your ability to lawfully protect yourself and your family.
ANOTHER THOUGHT: check your area, even your local gun shop, to see if there is a gun club that can help you with whatever it is you feel you need. There are many people with disabilities that carry, compete, and protect themselves. Training is everything, then it becomes muscle memory.
I did go through CCW training,,, a few years ago… that’s my problem… the mental issue of giving in… it’s hard… I never competed it…
I know that… that’s the issue… i can’t run away from trouble… I know that…
Not fully understanding. If you are in an open carry state, as I am, what is the big deal about open carrying then? It is far more of a deterrent to criminals if they see you are packing. In my opinion anyway. Take advantage of being O C. This is America after all.
I know… I was always a strong girl… I’m not strong anymore… (physically) … I feel like I am giving into fate… my logical self says if you don’t do this , you are a dumb ass,,, my emotional self says don’t give in… I know it is dumd,,, but illness can change your entire life… I’m bullheaded… my issues cause me to fall on my ass a lot… you fell like a big asshole when you fall on your ass over nothing,,, I guess what I am trying to work out… I’m afraid to give in to my weakness…
I think you have some depression issues that need to be addressed. A gun will not help.
Plenty of people carry and do not have any disability.
Things happen and things change. We will all have to face reduced abilities at some point and it will be a personal battle against our own expectations of our abilities. The mental frustration can be the hardest part.
Texas just passed constitutional carry. We can carry open or concealed without a permit.
I am a big guy, and with now disabilities. I would never open carry. Open carry just lets anyone with evil intentions know you need to be taken out first, and with that you just handed them the opportunity for a surprise attack. Even as large as I am I could be overwhelmed by surprise and shot with my own gun. That is especially true if I were facing multiple opponents.
Use Mace instead?
