Wow, That’s something to consider. As more and more EVs are on the road-are bridges, overpasses and garages at even more risk of failure from the weight? Especially the bridges that are old and in dire need of repair or replacement? Example- the I35W bridge collapse in Mpls.
American infrastructure has been crumbling for decades.
I’d see it as a mix of just shitty decaying infrastructure. Combined with heavier vehicles. Especially in the form of EVs.
It doesn’t help the budgets for Roads are usually the first things slashed. So Politicians can fund whatever retarded pet project. Plus a stranglehold of Construction Unions and deliberate choices to use cheaper and worse alternatives to ensure a steady supply of work for the local construction contractors and Unions.
In Ohio we pay........... wait for it........... a gas tax to supposedly maintain our roads. From what we can see it all goes directly into DeWine's pockets. Just think of the drop in revenue if we ALL went EV!! LOL
Similar situation in CA where I used to live: by LAW, the gas tax money had to be used for the roads. That was changed decades ago and now the roads are -- shocker -- not as well maintained.
From an insurance standpoint, Teslas are a horrible investment. You pay more for auto insurance, more for repairs, even minor ones and if you own your home and want a charging station that will cost you too on your homeowners insurance premium because of the combustion risk.
Think of the tech. A bumper isn’t just a bumper if it’s full of sensors. EV have so much tech when you need a part replaced is exponentially more expensive.
Hhahahaha - lib in Tesla,”what do you mean I can’t use the parking structure?” “Sir, your car exceeds the weight capacity of this structure.” Libs head explodes!
EV's are sold so liberals can make believe they're helping in a crisis that doesn't exist.

They're already talking about taxing by odometer to cover loss of fuel tax revenues

All of the blue states take that gas tax money and spend it on everything but highway maintenance.
They use it to subsidize bike lanes, railroads, walking paths, airports, etc.
Pretty much everything but what the money was intended to pay for.
That is why all state highway agencies changed to 'transportation' depts. That way they can spend money on anything and everything.
But, but we paid for “shovel ready jobs” and “build back better. How can this be?
Good point. Think of how they are transported too, by semi or by rail? Either way, lots more weight when added together.

Todays example: Toyota Camry and Tesla, same year, comp/collision on Toyota $100ish each over 6months, Tesla high $300s for each.

That is very interesting! Thank you.
they are for sure too heavy to the environment.
