You have made a good, underrated point. If there is some kind of digital currency that becomes the "freedom currency", one of its notable features would be that there would be an incentive for people to sell stuff denominated in this currency, unrelated to value of Fiat currency.
If this ever happens, there will be no easy way for the Cabal to mess with it. They try to tank it by selling it cheap? Buy it up immediately, turn it around and buy items and make money. An exchange tries to fake the coins and create tons of nonexistant coins in thin air? Buy them, transfer to own wallet and turn it around and buy items. Send the exchange to bankruptcy.
The fact is, you dont even have to do these stuff as a service to soceity. The arbitragers will be motivated to do it for the value of it.
How does such a currency come to exist? Either some larger players must back it with enormous reserves of gold/silver/commodities etc, OR it has to have intrinsic value. The latter is what I would love to see.
How can a digital currency have intrinsic value? There is an easy way actually. Create a peer to peer network where you can put in your unused computing power as a commodity for people to use (those who want a website, or a server etc). You get fixed amount of computing power for a coin.
People constantly keep needing computing power and at the same time people constantly keep having idle computers. So you will always have a market here.
Personally, I think a digital currency that is superior to any other form of currency at least in some ways - is yet to be invented, and will be invented.

Well, you said it, Digital Currency has Zero Intrinsic Value, and that is where the problem is to the Normal Everyday person....
