Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Don't want to "hold out" on those of you who may care...
I have been taking curcumin to reduce inflammation for about a year. Oddly, at the same time, I noticed that my belly fat seemed to disappear. I had NO IDEA curcumin had that effect. None at all. I thought some of my friends may want to know.

I'm 51, btw. It's not a joke. The stuff removes belly fat. Give it a go.
Awesome! How do you take curcumin (turmeric) btw? I grew up in culture where we ingest it in food in pretty much every dish we cook. Recently I been trying to drink it directly in hot milk. However, I personally saw pretty similar experience once I started IF and cut off carbs and sugars. Have you done something similar as well in addition to curcumin?
Hi Bubble...
I take the turmeric/curcumin in pill form with water, three times per day, 2 pills at a time.
For about 20 years now, I have done all of my eating in the time period between typically 6:30-10:30 pm. No calories outside of that. Diet coke, water, black coffee only, outside of that. Plus, I lift (mainly) and do a little cardio. <-- these habits alone put me in a place where I looked "pretty good" for a middle aged man, and within striking distance of looking quite fit, if only I'd buckle down and lose that last 5-10 pounds around my waste. Which of course is the hardest part. But turmeric did it for me without me even trying. Give it a go.
Okay this sounds pretty interesting. I might give it a go.
I hasten to point out that when I eat, I eat whatever I want and as much of it as I want. So, I might have some chicken wings right at 6:30 as an appetizer, and then a couple of hours later have a 5 egg omelette with peppers in it, with a pound of bacon, wash that down with, say, 8-9 light beers, and then have a pack of cookies later that night. So I'm eating. I'm just eating all within a 4 hour period.
Great thank you. I’ll get me some if that. I take the powdered berberine to keep my sugar levels in line. I’ve noticed since taking it that I’ve dropped a few pounds as well.
What brand do you take?
Nature's Bounty. Turmeric (1000 mg) "With Turmeric Extract 100mg Standardized for 95% Curcuminoids" Plus Black Pepper Extract
All of the above is on the label. The bottle is green. Black pepper included in the pill is important, as the pepper makes the curcumin bioavailable. In case it isn't obvious, curcumin is IN turmeric. Turmeric is the actual product I buy.
Not that there is any science to it, but I take 2 pills when I wake up; 2 more some time in the middle of the day; and then 2 more before bed. I forget the 2 before bed probably half the time.
That's awesome! It's always nice to get an unexpected good outcome when we try new things. So happy it's working for you.
I'm taking Moringa, just up to full dose again. Had to stop while waiting for surgeries (long story). I lost ten pounds around January, I don't weigh often so not sure when I lost it. Either Lions Mane or Moringa helped, not sure which. My BP is better than it's been in 15 years, most likely due to the Moringa. I'm not up to dose with turmeric capsule. Moringa has 100% relieved arthritis. Found out that when I stopped it for six weeks.
What brand curcumin are you taking? It's so hard to find quality supplements. I'm taking Tribe Organics Turmeric and Moringa, it's very expensive in my opinion. I think I'm going to go with tinctures when I can at home and capsule for travel.
I buy the powdered Moringa from Mike Adams the Health Ranger. It’s affordable and has been inspected in his lab.
I'll check that out the Moringa out. Thanks for the info. I think it's easy enough to make capsules. I'm a whimp with stuff like this. I wish I liked smoothies, oh the healthy stuff I could make. I don't even like milk shakes and prefer ice cream in winter so it doesn't melt. I'm considering a juicer at some point. I've just begun to feel like myself again hopefully soon I'll be planning meals again.
So glad you’re feeling better. ❤️
See above for the details. The stuff really works, and I had no idea. ...A friend asked me if I had heard about curcumin/turmeric for losing belly fat (I hadn't any idea), and then I made the connection. To be honest, it was a relief. I liked the fact that the belly fat was simply vanishing, but I had no idea why that was happening and was a little worried. Now I know, LOL.
