Not terribly surprising. The Navy is not able to maintain the ships anymore. The technical knowledge, discipline and priorities are all falling short.
You are so correct. My dad is a Swift Boat Vietnam Vet - actually attending their board meeting at the moment. I was Air Force as was hubby. We feel for those who are in the military right now. What a mess in the Navy and elsewhere. I see the tempo of the planes so I know some are really busy and I hope/pray that they have good equipment and fellow airmen/troops. But with Trump/Chris Miller in charge, I bet they are being well taken care of.
I am still with the DoD. There are still a lot of good people, but the system itself is broken. It is going to be a herculean effort to get back into shape. The whole government is going to need an enema and the military is going to need a purge of the snowflakes and Officer Corps. It isn't going to be easy and it is going to be painful. I still have no idea about what we are going to do with all these 4-6% that won't wake up and they are still going to be a percentage of the others that the seeds are still in them. Brainwashing is extremely difficult to remove entirely.
I’m a contractor working with two projects - Army and Navy. In a recent demo, I watched several senior Army civilians mock Trump. We were talking about ChatGPT and Trump had just been indicted so his CGI-generated arrest videos were brought up as an example. I was fuming inwardly. I have never seen that type of disrespect toward a former President (except from us conservatives towards Obama, I guess) and definitely not ever in a technical presentation In the presence of a General. I watched the General carefully and he stayed neutral. But I was still shocked at the behavior of the civilians.
DoD is broken. I hope it is much smaller going forward and filled with good people. I hate that I’ve been a part of the problem but I have always tried to give my best to those fighting. They deserve the best. I will gladly find a different type of job if mine is disappeared because this mess is finally getting cleared up.
I'm getting ready to leave service and join a contractor. Fortunately, no one in government service or active duty say anything negative about Trump. Everyone I work with thinks highly of him, every one of them is awake. I can honestly say that it wouldn't matter if I am government or contractor, I wouldn't allow anyone to bad mouth a current or former President. No matter who is around. I will speak up and tell them that regardless of personal feelings about the man, the position deserves respect and that in the positions that they are in especially does not give them license to disrespect the office. I would even say this to an Admiral or a General, I have never been one to hold my tongue and I won't start now, as a matter of fact, I find myself even less tolerant and less restrained, the older I get.
