Why do people think we need to cancel the past? It happened. Everyone was fine with it when it happened. No need to get all worked up about it now. Apparently we've all evolved past the idea of using sex to sell stuff on TV. Great! Pat yourself on the back for being modern and move on with life.
Kind of a stupid double standard here when you think about it. It's now fashionable to allow your children to view sexualized entertainment, usually men pretending to be women and dancing provocatively. However, it is frowned upon for our parents to have ever used beautiful women to sell stuff. Is it OK for people who wish they were women to be scantily dressed as long as they're not actually being paid to do it? Or is it OK because they're not actually women? Or is it OK because their cause is considered so important? I'm confused.
I saw the Miller Lite commercial and I think it's a horrible commercial - but I don't think it's offensive in any way compared to Bud Light. We'll see how they handle responding to it.. That will determine everything for me same as Bud Lights' response to 'double down' at first made me determined to avoid it and its brands everywhere - even when I'm at venues where it's free.
Time to look into home brewing.
