In Peter Pan, the boys were taken to Neverland. IIRC nothing bad happened to them there; it was just that they would never grow up and would remain children forever.
In Pinocchio, boys were lured to Pleasure Island with the promise of treats and fun forever, but were turned into donkeys and forced to work hard for the rest of their lives.
The Adventures of Pinocchio was a novel by Carlo Collodi, an Italian. After being serialized in a children's magazine from 1881-1882, it was published as a novel in 1883. Walt Disney turned the story into an animated film in 1940.
Peter Pan was written as a play by J.M. Barrie, a Scotsman, in 1904. Barrie later turned it into a novel that was published in 1911. Walt Disney turned the story into an animated film in 1953.
Looks like Pinocchio came first as both a novel and a Disney film.

Perhaps the writers cut a bit to true on that one so Peter pan made the island a "happy place" where pedo victims never age?
