How are you realistically boycotting? There are so many evil places. I see the boycott and support companies by using 2ndvote, weboycott, public square. (It would be helpful to have boycott/support companies in list form if anyone has made one. It's nice to have logo and reason but quick access would be nice.)
Someone also suggested stocking up in May, not buying in June and then buying again in July.
I've heard buy local. Well, that's great but what if you don't want to support the store that ran your small grocery store out of business? What if local restaurants host drag nights?
What if you want to buy electronics?
It all sounds good to boycott but you have to buy stuff somewhere.
There is a difference between want and need.
I buy used whenever possible (yard sales, thrift stores, etc)
There is a glut of 2nd hand goods. It seems like the shelves of thrift stores are full of entire estates. Families cleaning out the homes of those who died suddenly? I needed a coffee maker recently and there were about 20 to choose from, got one for $5.
If the thrift store doesn't have it (I don't have gas money to hit yard sales) then I try eBay, making sure to avoid the shippers from China.
nothing wrong with doing your best. also it may not be our job to bankrupt all evil companies as much as it is to bankrupt a select few in a very public way.
smaller online retailers might be a good way to get what you need while providing minimal support to the big bads.
Start small with a plan and then try your best. Keep in mind a beast like Blackrock and Vanguard is embedded into nearly a lot of aspects of our lives.
Can't boycott 100% but what you can do is slowly peel away by having a plan.
Supporting small businesses that are local is a great first step. The plandemic was designed to extinguish or deter people from physically visiting these shops and force online shopping behaviors.
The Plandemic was designed to drive mom and pops out of business because they do not control mom and pop like they do corporations. Mom & Pop that have a viable business don't need their loan money. The only way to attack Mom & Pop is by controlling the companies in their supply chain. We need whole supply chains free of their 'financing' leverage.
I balance needs and wants, since you can't exactly boycott 100% of these companies due to the entrenchment of those who control them. I look for low-money deals, BOGOs, and other sale items when it comes to needs, and I've curtailed my wants for now; not spending disposable cash on junk that can wait (and preparing for the crash), or, if it's a particular collectable (hence, the "junk") and a great deal, buying used from local or single/small sellers.
Definitely see your point. Choosing the lesser of two evils hasn't exactly worked out swimmingly for us over the years.
Our strategy is to first decide if it's something we absolutely need. Might mean buying alternatives that aren't perfect, maybe making something, or buying used. We also try to fix broken things rather than replace, although the Chicoms have severely dominated the spare parts marketplace.
Flea markets can be a fun source and this is the time of year for them. Also various festivals often have lots of vendors and many are local people with local products. Our town has a small farmers market every weekend this time of year.
We have chickens so the eggtastrophe was a non-issue for us, and a couple of hens can be raised just about anywhere. It's one option...
The worst companies seem to be in the finished goods sector, so if you can make/build your own stuff, that's another option. Always good to have tools...
Doing your best is always better than doing nothing.
Lots of variables affect who can do what. We're very rural, so our choices are already limited, but we also have more local resources. Do what you can and raise awareness to others.
Then don't look into what your credit card company supports.
Yes I noticed visa MasterCard PayPal on the list and thought 'and how an I supposed to pay for things?'
Whats not mentioned here yet..... I have been learning how to make what I need. What I cant make like milk I buy freeze dried from companies I trust.
As for the wants, I dont. I would like new carpeting but I dont need it to survive. I often think if someone broke into my house and saw 'old stuff' they might just go elsewhere thinking there probably is nothing worth it here.
For example I've been boycotting Chewy and Petsmart. So I went on Pinterest and learned how to make my own dog food and treats.....MUCH cheaper, healthier and never run out.
I appreciate your responses.
Look deep enough,it's all corrupted. Including air and water. How far do you wanna go? Space? Corrupted too. I'm just gonna live the best I can on what little $ I have. When it's survival, that's what it comes down to.
