Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
We don't know the half of it, do we?
Thankfully I've only ever had one tetanus shot. Madej says that sterilization results from a cumulative effect.
Bastards. I was born in the early fifties and I remember being scared shitless in my early teens, thinking that I'd die a horrible death if I got a scratch from a rusty nail. Someone must have put that fear into me and I don't think it was my parents. Anyway, as soon as I was able, I got a tetanus shot; then another ten years later. I only "woke up" a decade ago.
Recently, when I fell off my motorbike and grazed my elbow, I was offered a tetanus shot at the clinic. The doctor was astounded when I refused.
I had a shot of tetanus after a dog bite, and then, less than 10 years later I was working in an institution in Columbia Mo. It was on the deaf blind unit, and one of the residents bit me! The nurse on duty had me go to the ER for a shot.. I told them it was too early, but they insisted with bites, if it is anytime longer than 3 years, had to have one. Later that evening I went out to eat at Glens Cafe, specialty was crawdads. The bowl of them was out in front of me and I had a doozy of a reaction, head twisted unvoluntarily, muscle spasms etc. It went away on its own, but damn I would have loved to have eaten first.
get a shot, get an allergic reaction
yeah, it's the last one I had, it was scary, what I got was a tetanus sample of what it can do for you. I think, this was a long time ago, before internet to look things up, I had freind who worked at the hospital there, and she told me to take a lot of Benadryl.
