Yes. I was one of those with a (once) good man who became an alcoholic thus causing me to have to work and pay the bills with 2 kids to raise. It was hard making ends meet, but I always kept the bills paid, clothes on my kids backs, food on the table and birthdays and holidays. Then when they got to Middle School the good Lord blessed me with a good paying job in automotives. I went from bringing home about $180 a week after taxes to about $600 a week after taxes on my first check. I sat in my car and literally looked at that check and cried. I have never forgotten where I came from and neither have my kids. Always think of those who are less fortunate. God bless you for being that kind of a person too.
Awesome post Mary911. Once I stopped drinking and doing drugs, I learned that Gratitude is the key to happiness. Even with a world turned upside down, I can still be thankful for today, my family and the Almighty. Thank you for the reminder
You're welcome. No one is perfect my friend. Not even me. I once drank like a fish and smoked cigarettes like there was no tomorrow. I drank after too many years of watching my husband and his friends while sitting there drinking coffee all the time. So I decided 'If you can't beat 'em; join 'em.' BIG MISTAKE! Kids were much older ; high school and I managed to work and pay bills but I always stopped on Fridays to get my beer. Miller High Life. Finally one day the Lord did it without my really knowing, but I came in, popped the top of one, took a swig, and it wasn't to my liking. Out of my mouth came the words, "I don't want this." Without knowing, God took that urge/craving from me and I haven't drank a beer or anything since. That was April 10, 2014. On September 16, 2016 I quit smoking. And I haven't looked back since. The Lord will help you and make you the person he wants you to be. God bless.
This. Most of us remember what it's like living paycheck to paycheck with children to feed. So, amen to this.
