Hollywoke is going broke. There is no such thing as a blockbuster anymore. Most new films are unwatchable garbage and even big marketing dollars don’t draw interest. The recent Disney bomb , The Little Mermaid, is proof. Nothing Disney produces is any good, and even if it was there are too many people who want nothing to do with increasing their bottom line...
Like anything else, film is not dead, it is just temporarily out of sorts because it has lost its mission...
I think we can look forward to the death of the old guard and the emergence of something entirely new...
Dune comes out 11/3 and the promo poster says : 11.3.23
Also cruise is apparently furious : his new ‘Mission Impossible’ premieres a week ahead of Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ - the twist is Oppenheimer gets ALL (100%) iMax screens for 3 weeks, leaving mission impossible with only 1 week of iMac viewing. I’m not 100% garauntee’ing any of this- just what I’ve passively gathererd.
That sucks. Grr. I am super excited for both those movies.
Dune is going to rock!
Dune with a black female diversity hire playing the "father" of the French and father of Chani - Liet Kynes? The same Dune that has that ham-acting overly emotional Rebecca Ferguson playing the impassive regal Lady Jessica?
Much of the first movie was great and I can not wait to see Chris Walker as the Emperor, however what was done to Liet Kynes was cultural woke vandalism. It jarred so badly it ruined the movie for me
Ypu make great points, but damn. That last Dune movie was so beautiful.
I don't claim to know a lot about the film industry or imax. I've been to imax once to see Top Gun Maverick. It's an hour from me and we rarely go to movies. I loved the imax theater stadium seating and big screen. If more action movies like Top Gun etc were there I'd go more. The one we went to is connected to a museum/interactive for kids. They show more kid's movies than adult. In my opinion they didn't give Top Gun Maverick enough dates. That's the only example of movie I have because we don't follow the latest releases. I'm more into watching old movies from the 70s & 80s.
