I can only judge from pictures. I've seen Oregon look that bad when about 400 fires were going at once in the dry summer. It was apocalyptic, but it has to be worse in more populated areas because the heat of the fires helps hold in car exhaust and all the extra particulates that civilization produces.
Same here is South Jersey, never had this amount of haze unless there was a local pinelands fire. We were also hit with an unexpected rain storm yesterday.
I follow the homesteaders on Instagram and so many are experiencing extreme drought. Last year it was the Midwest. This year it is more east, like NE PA. So many farmers affected 😢
