There is a phenomenon that sometimes happens with hurricanes, whereas they normally rapidly lose strength after making landfall, there have been times where there is enough standing water (warm, standing water) in the landfall area to provide additional "fuel" for the storm, so that it doesn't lose strength as quickly.
I live in FL. It's been wet for weeks now. I'm wondering how many named storms were gonna get here this year.

So do I...last weekend had the crackling of lightening and then BOOOOM!!!! Going to be fun this year AND the ground is soaked so be careful...
