What principles and virtues were we founded upon that are unique to Christianity?
I am so tired of people cherry-picking parts of the Bible or Christianity to suit their behavior.
I've never understood why people get so upset over homosexuality. Every time I ask someone why they dislike homosexuals so much, the answer is inevitably something along the lines of "The Bible says God doesn't like it."
But why pick that one thing out of the long list of things God doesn't like? Because of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah? If you go study the Bible, homosexuality isn't the only reason God punished them. They were generally evil people who were also thieves and murderers, adulterers, rapists, and idolaters. Remember that Lot, who God spared, offered up his own daughters to be gang raped to spare the angels. So there were a lot of sins to pick from there, but out of all of them, why pick homosexuals to fixate on?
Out of all the sins there, that's the only one that doesn't affect anyone else. To add modern sensibilities, if they're all consenting adults, who is it harming?
Yeah, I'm sure I'm going to hear several responses concerning grooming but guess what? There are also heterosexuals out there grooming kids.
If you (the general you, not you specifically) are truly concerned about children being sexually abused, then you need to look closer to home.
People don't want to hear it, but around 90% of all child sex abuse is done by family members or someone close to the family (coach, teacher, pastor, family friends, etc...). And the vast majority of those assaults are done by straight men. Pretty much every organization that works with child sex abuse survivors all have similar numbers. So if you're worried about groomers, you need to look at the people around you.
If people spent as much time paying attention to what is going on in their families as they do fretting about some gay people having a parade, there would be far fewer child sex assaults.
But people don't want to face the fact that the biggest threat to their children might be a loved one. Who would? It's heartbreaking and tears families apart.
It's easier to make a bunch of gay people twerking in a parade the Big Bad Boogymen. It might be easier but does virtually nothing to make your kids any safer.
I have read the Bible. There are less than a dozen references to homosexuals in there.
But take adultery for example. I lost count of how many references to adultery I read.
Let's look at what the Bible says should be the punishment for that.
Leviticus 20:10
10 And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
Deuteronomy 22:22
22 If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.
And of course from the 10 Commandments;

“Thou shalt not commit adultery.”
Exodus 20:14
So where is all the hatred for adulterers?
I don't see post after post about how adulterers are ruining the world.
Tell me how it's anything but hypocrisy, how you pick and choose from the Bible what to believe.
Oh I'm sorry, did you really think Jesus came to ""Fulfill"" a Covenant or something???
Nope, he came with a Sword, to place Enmity between people, he gave us the NEW Testament, and we are not bound by the Old Testament, WE aren't Hebrews, we are the outsiders, we have a totally different set of Laws to live under....
Yeah, except the story of Sodom and Gomorrah is in the Old Testament. As are the passages concerning punishment for homosexuals. That didn't concern you an hour ago.

But Jesus said how to punish Pedophiles....
God said Men and Women do not Dress in Clothing that doesn't pertain to the opposite SEX....

So.....why do you still have a problem with it?
