My first thought was that the CIA had found some Russian weapons and fired them at Prigozhin in an attempt to start a civil war in Russia. If you can't defeat Russia on the battlefield get them to destroy themselves. Sounds like a plan to me.

There is zero chance that a mercenary group would go "all in" against the Russian military ... UNLESS they have Western (CIA) backing.
