skull and bones is pretty old. our education system was always a control mechanism. but it could be a positive institution, if it was taken over by we the people.
Even though I hated school for exactly that reason (the element of control), I don’t think we need to do away with the entire system just because part of it is corrupt. We'll never get anywhere as a species if we don’t educate our children effectively.
Rapidly discredited how? Nothing prevents you from continuing to discourage the college path. Plus, this injustice needs to be corrected anyway; if not now, then when?
I'm a bit sad by this since we have so much momentum moving away from our broken university system and it was rapidly becoming discredited.
Now we're gonna resume sending skilled and intelligent kids back into that mental castrater? Resume being proud of impressed by MIT and Harvard?
education doesn't have to be evil. people are going to keep sending their kids anyways, so this is a necessary step to avoid more bridge collapses.
Not to mention you'll have classrooms with (hopefully) more of our kind in there, who would speak up against some eejit prof spewing bullshit.
I’d argue colleges got the way they are because of policies like AA.
