People in their 20s arent given real jobs that make money, and the places they can work (e.g. walmart) almost always pay them poverty wages so that the employee has to sign up for benefits just to rub two pennies together. Sure, SOME people can break the cycle, but you cant have 20 million people crammed into the few good job categories left for people without experience. 90% of them are basically told the American Dream - that everyone has opportunty to be upwardly mobile - while our politicians have run out with every advantage the nation once had and made it the American Lie.
The skilled trades are begging for anyone who can fog a mirror and show up on time to apply for a job.
In three years you can bust 100k a year. If you don't avail yourself of that opportunity you deserve the shit life of retail store wages because you're either stupid or lazy.
