I was saddened to see how lackluster the Independence Day Celebrations were in my area...

Many folks are weary and concerned that our country is being destroyed. Which it is. I fly my American flag upside down for this very reason. The people who ask me about it - mostly retired folks - start out thinking I'm being disloyal to the US. Until I explain that it's the international sign of a country in distress, and I'm tired of pretending that we're NOT in distress. One of those people said I was disrespecting the veterans who fought for this country. My response was "They see it and agree with me. I'm visibly voicing my objection to it." I tell them I'll change how I fly the flag as soon as I see a parade of hangings or trials convicting these people of treason or sedition. By the end, they grudgingly allow that I'm probably correct in my reasoning.
What an Independence Day celebration we'll have once this country is truly free!
it is not just for a country in distress, but a signal used by a vessel in distress, an embassy under siege, .. it could be flown upside down from a prison where the inmates have taken the guards hostage.
Amen. And even when you flew your flag upside down, people were trying to give their opinion of how they think you are wrong. It's like none of us are supposed to have a mind of our own anymore. I'm so happy you stood up for yourself. God bless you.
I am so sorry to hear that.
I think I live in a secretly red area.
My whole street was filled with smoke last night. I had a front row seat (in my backyard) to 2 fireworks shows in the nearby field.
It was spectacular!!! 🇺🇸
I live in a beach tourist area and the fireworks have been popping off for a week straight. We've had dozens of municipal and tourist location fireworks plus all the residents nightly. Last night it didn't matter what direction you looked the skies were full of fireworks. Everybody has flags out including car window flags cruising down the road. People everywhere are wearing red, white and blue. Half of the visitors here come from blue states. Plenty of Trump flags and merchandise as well.
Minneapolis didn’t have their downtown fireworks this year, only a laser light show. They were blaming it on cost savings. Partially true because they don’t have enough police officers to police downtown anymore but also because they spent a lot of money on their pride parade the previous weekend. Liberal city in decline…
If they didn't have the money, how did my tiny town afford its regular fireworks Saturday night?
Exactly…
We had spectacular fireworks in the small town I'm in.
If you're on Instagram, here's two video clips I took yesterday of us San Clemente, California patriots celebrating Independence Day, yesterday.

My neighborhood was completely dead. Only a fire cracker or two in the distance. No BBQ grills, no kids playing outside, no extra cars in the driveways. SO I did watch Pittsburgh's fireworks on tv. Nobody does fireworks like the Zambellis, even their bicentennial show was better than DCs.
Spent my 4th watching The Patriot, 1776. even How the West Was Won.
anybody else find this year's Buttsex Month was a few notches "quieter" than previous years?
There were fireworks all around where I live. The town had theirs on Saturday night, but my neighborhood had lots of fireworks. I could look out the living room window and see some good ones across the street.
Sorry to hear it fren. I went to my brother's place (we live in an area that would burn every home on a 2 mile radius if a spark set off a fire) & the entire neighborhood where I grew up had more light in the sky than I have ever seen. Neighbors put up more funds & lit off more bang than I have ever seen.
It could be that they knew that the local shows just were not going to pony up, though the neighbors came through in mass locally.
it could be that people held their own picnics, but in protest this morning I added a photo of a parade from a town that is not even a wide place in the road. it was more festive than what I saw here. the nod to the fourth was a 12x8 stage where a few people sang for about 20 minutes...
I am so sorry fren. Maybe there are neighbors who are part of the sleeping giant that want do put on a better show next year & just don't know where to start. I am going to be asking around our neighborhood & some local churches to see if we can use those parking lots & pavillions next year.
Ours were great !!! Ohio still rocks!!!
Fireworks in the neighborhood last night, and target practice this afternoon by the neighbors.
