Electric vehicles are quite possibly an excellent idea, if the technology is developed far beyond what we have today. The batteries are just not developed enough to be very useful for most people. The tech needs a better storage medium and we need to be able to generate our own power. The advantage that I see is freedom from reliance on the petroleum refinement process. This is not something that an individual can realistically do on their own, but generating their own electricity? There is simply so many ways to generate electricity and most people are perfectly capable of generating electricity without relying on many big companies. I would readily welcome an electric vehicle with super capacitors that take a charge within a few seconds with a decent rate of discharge. With self owned and directed energy generation, it appeals to me as a very independent person. It simply isn't available yet, but it is possible in time with the right technology.
