There's a few things to consider here.

This is a hypothesis. Scientists formulated hypotheses and then try to prove them or disprove them. It's not accurate to say Hoffer showed a connection to brain disease. He was speculating about a connection to brain disease.

This is about the natural adrenochrome we all have. Adrenochrome is within us all. Adrenalin is unstable and breaks down very quickly to other substances including adrenochrome. Adrenochrome is also unstable toxic and is quickly broken down into safe substance that can be excreted through the kidneys. Just as the kidneys do with a host of other substances, like alcohol for example.

The specific hypothesis was some people had a genetic defect that didn't allow them to process adrenochrome correctly which caused a build up and that caused diseases like schizophrenia.

He also speculated that large does of niacin (vitamin B3) could cure schizophrenia.

We know niacin does not cause cure schizophrenia and we know so much more about the brain than we did in the 1950's and this hypothesis is not how we currently understand how schizophrenia forms. The current thinking is it is the cause is very complex and includes genetic and environmental factors and other brain chemicals are thought to be the cause.

The explanation is so complex, it's hard for me to summarize it beyond that. But researchers think

that dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin may be factors in the development of the disorder.

Note "Norepinephrine itself can further be converted into epinephrine" (aka adrenaline.) This means Norepinephrine is two steps ahead of adrenochrome in the body. so perhaps Hoffer was onto something, with regards to schizophrenia, but was starting in the wrong place.

Hoffer's work doesn't NOT SUPPORT the adrenochrome harvesting claims. because adrenochrome is so reactive it quickly becomes something else. Hoffer wrote

Ideally, final proof would have been gained when adrenochrome crystals ex-tracted from the body are in one’s hand. But because adrenochrome in solution is so reactive it is highly unlikely it can be ex-tracted.

He wrote that in 1990.

No...this article has to do with schizophrenia and other brain diseases where physical imbalances in the body cause manifestations in the brain...Alzheimer's is caused by physical anomalies in the structure of the brain that leads to impaired thinking...two completely different things...

Also the adrenechrome only relates to schizophrenia...I have posted some articles in Unleashed that speak to the issues of schizophrenia...it is all very interesting...there are a LOT of reasons why the brain may not be functioning properly...MANY varied causes...
