A not so subtle barbershop window I saw while visiting Montana

Pet peeve of mine. Why do people go into barber/stylist business and then want to work regular hours - when all of their potential customers are working?
Somebody could make a killing in our area if they would work 5pm to 10pm weekdays and be open all day Saturday. Or open early mornings.
Guy who cut my hair back when we lived in the city opened at 6am, sometimes 5:30am and was absolutely packed every morning until 8am with guys who couldn't justify taking time off from work to get a haircut once per month.
You're totally right about the hours. I always have gravitated towards night shift at every job Ive worked at. Getting off work at 4-7am nothing but gas stations are open. That's to be expected, but im not staying awake and extra 2-3 hours after work to wait for anything to open up. Im going to bed.
The worst is the government "services" like DMV. Open M-F 9-5. You almost are forced to take time off work to take care of that nonsense as a working class. Luckily its not something I have to do often. But its always something I put off until the last possible second. I hate leaving work, (or breaking up my sleep) to have endure something I want to do even less.
If I ever opened a business, Id do 12pm-10pm. Like the hobby card shops/game stores do. They know their customer base. EIther they're neets playing video games until 4am and waking up after noon, to avoid as much human interaction as possible. Or they're workers who want to chill for a couple hours after work with the other nerds.
You're lucky around here if a gov office is open past 4:30.
I did the night shift thing for three years, I basically slept with the occasional nap. I barely slept at all. I loved the night work other than that.
My barber is 800-1700 M-F, 4 chairs, and sometimes there's a wait at 0800. 25 including tip. 100% American dudes cutting hair. People make time to go if you're good.
But, I get what you're saying. Most people don't have schedule flexibility M-F.
Small town brother. In a place like that, you can tell whomever you are working for that you need to step out for a haircut. Different world. In most ways, a better world.
It is very odd how they have managed to make businesses close early these days though. I used to be able to go eat at any hour. Now if I don't get somewhere before nine, I am out of luck. Even the HEB grocery store shuts down at eleven ever since the pretend pandemic.
