In the world of FPS gaming, there is a crucial concept called "Tank". The way it works is this:
You have a tough NPC opponent (usually a group of entities), and while you can slowly kill them all, their fire power is too heavy and would kill your players easily.
So one of the common approach is to use a very heavily armored player on your team that can withstand this assault without dying. This is called the Tank.
You move this into the position first, and aggro the NPCs until all their players are attacking your Tank. You can them move your players with firepower, usually with very low defenses and slowly eliminate the enemy without worrying about their fire.
Typically you need to do all kinds of things to ensure that the enemy is pre-occupied with your Tank, that they dont notice the real danger.
This is what Trump is doing. He is capable of accepting tons and tons of damage by the enemy, due to the trust people have in him, due to him being sqeuaky clean, and due to his personality.
All these indictments would destroy almost anyone else in his place, but he is the TANK, and these indictments do nothing to him, but as long as the enemy keeps focusing their fury on him, the WHs can move their pieces in all the chess boards without too much hassle.
You mean MMOPRG? What FPS uses Tanking on bosses?
OP ousted himself as a Zoomer, essentially.
Yeah you are right, wrong terminology, but then I was never a serious gamer.
I had to look up "DPS." I am a serious gamer only of 80s arcade stuff (dormant since preferred arcade here went down the tubes). Haven't done home stuff since like the early 2000s at friend's houses.
Overwatch uses tanking. But not on bosses.
CRPG would be appropriate as well.
More like a MOBA
found the gamer :)
eh off the top of my head there's some taunt mechanics in Borderlands and Overwatch assigns roles including "Tank" but yeah, "FPS GaMiNg" just comes across like OP doesn't know what they're talking about. The Tank/DPS/Healer Triad comes from RPGs. Also:
Are they NPCs or Players?
