Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Anymore I just like mill stones.
TOP COMMENT!
Rubies.
Diamonds are nice, but nothing beats the vivid rich color of a ruby.
gotta be opal, or corundum with the star.
there are other beautiful minerals too, not all considered gemstones. bismuth is too brittle to do anything with, but it sure is pretty. also a big fan of lepidolite. oooh and moldavite of course.
You just listed 5 stones as your favorite. Maybe you should think about becoming a geologist.
I love jasper, and moss agate for minerals, jasper just feels good in my hand as a "worry stone".
I was up in Jasper, BC not too long ago. nice to feel a connection with a stone that's not too rare. love how varied they are too, very beautiful.
Someone tricked me into thinking that was real moss in a moss agate for a while. pretty embarrassing. but they're still very cool :)
Emerald.
Aside from my birthstone, Aquamarine, I would have to say, black opals.
Ah! Another March birthday person or at least a Pisces.
March, yes, but Aries! :)
Uh Huh! Mine is St. Patty's Day as is my husbands. So you're at the end of March aka the Cusp.
Hi fellow Aries. Is your personality like Aries characteristics? Mine is so much that it's a little scary. I'm not into horoscopes etc it's just weird I fit the profile so much.
Oh yeah!! My birthday stone too! I love the beautiful calming color of the Aquamarine.
It's like gazing into tropical water! You can tell real Aquamarine, if you turn it sideways, kind of looking through it parallel to the top face, the stone goes clear.
It is beautiful. I have a few birthstone rings that were given as gifts and I’m quite sure they are not the real deal, but that’s ok.
