Not really. Here's another take: I have a daughter who lives in Los Angeles who is 30. She said that the first weekend 'Barbie' came out, the main theaters were playing 'Barbie' on multiple screens, all day long, and they were all sold out! She is in the movie/TV industry as many are who live there and everyone was talking about that particular movie and how they wanted to see it.
She ended up going to see it and said that it was ridiculous how many people went all out dressing in all pink, with both the girls and guys dressed like Barbies and Kens as depicted in the trailers. There were big groups making a whole night about it. She said everyone was in good spirits and it was a welcome relief to all the negative stuff in the news.
So this is a 'thing' for the young folks who are looking for something fun to do at the end of the summer. I imagine it is the same in Canada.
it's also picking up a few positive reviews from conservatives, calling it a critique of wokeness. I probably won't see it like justin did, but i'm still curious

Sounds like a latter-day verison of the Rocky Horror Picture Show phenomenon.
Yes, I think you are right!
