Quick lefties. Pack up those Ukrainian flags! Winds are shifting and the dancing monkey Zelensky is out of songs, and friends. I smell an "election" or way worse on the horizon for the comedian.
Washington Post, hmmm.......... Always the 'gallant' and 'brave' Ukrainians defending their country against the 'evil' Russains.
Not quite. The Ukrainian government is one of the most corrupt and evil places in the world. It is easily shown that the Oblasts of eastern and southern Ukraine identify as being Russian. I will address these Oblasts shortly, but first history shows us that these areas have been traditionally Russian. In fact, it can be argued that Ukraine has no real history of being an 'independent' nation and only exists from the last 30 years. Prior to that, it has always been part of some other nation. The very name, 'Ukraine' comes from the word 'ukraina', which means 'borderland' and translates literally as 'the borderlands'. It has always been understood as a borderland region that was used quite frankly as a buffer between competing nations. Remember, that 'Ukraine' has always been part of some other conquering nation. In fact, this has always been a region where wars were fought.
This region was part of the Russian Empire having varying borders that existed from 1791 to 1917 to which permanent residency of Jews was allowed. It was called the Pale of Settlement. Beyond this Jewish residency, permanent or temporary, was mostly forbidden. The 'Pale of Settlement' became a problem in itself, in which it became a big source of corruption affecting conterminous governments. Does this sound familiar? Some things never change. During the Soviet era, Birobidzhan, which is a Jewish Autonomous Oblast in Russia, was established in 1931 during Stalin's regime. I mention this because there has always been an unusual effort to administer to Jewish demands. Jewish communists believed that the Soviet Union's creation of Birobidzhan was the "only true and sensible solution to the national question." The Soviet government used the slogan "To the Jewish Homeland!" to encourage Jewish workers to move to Birobidzhan. The Pale of Settlement was in many ways a predecessor of Birobidzhan. Many Jewish Canadians then gave their support to the Soviet Union by becoming either members or sympathizers with the Communist Party of Canada. Are these the same forces controlling Canada today?
Throughout history Ukraine has acted somewhat like a 'sacrificial metal' does to which trouble first rears its head. When Putin said Ukraine was never a nation with borders, this is what he was referring to. Ukraine has been a place where bad actors are sent ridding governments of troublemakers. It really is a breeding ground for corruption.
The two regions of Luhansk and Donetsk People's republics were added to Soviet Ukraine S.S.R. from Russia in 1922. The majority of the population there speak Russian as their first language. The politics in these two regions from the beginning of Ukraine's independence has been Russian. This is not true in Kiev or western Ukraine. Attempts by various Ukrainian governments to question the legitimacy of the Russian culture in these regions has often resulted in political conflict. The neo-Nazi's in Ukraine's government who control its military has threatened genocide against the traditional Russian people who lived there prior to Ukraine ever existing. Genocide is the issue even today. The government of Kiev will not accept peace in the region and leaves genocide on the table.
It was only when Nikita Khrushchev; the Ukrainian born Soviet Union President, redrew Crimea to be part of Ukrainian S.S.R. in 1954 that Kiev gained administration of Crimea until 2014; only a 60 year period. The Crimea under the Soviet Ukrainian S.S.R. jurisdiction was given great autonomy to assuage and pacify the Crimean people under Ukrainian control, who opposed it. It's autonomy was drafted and enacted in the Constitution. This lasted until 1992 when Kiev abolished the Crimean Constitution without their consent. In 1998, Kiev gave Crimea a new constitution, which eliminated its autonomy; notably, any legislation passed by the Crimean parliament could be vetoed by the Ukrainian parliament. This was illegal and never accepted by the Crimean people. Before that, being an Constitutionally guaranteed autonomy, the Crimeans made their own legislation and Kiev was to respect the Crimean legislated acts.
The Crimeans have never accepted the 1992 Kiev nullification of their Constitution. Fast forward to 2014 and the rise of the anti-Russian neo-Nazi MAIDAN as a preeminent force now ruling Kiev, the Crimean people knew that terror and persecution of the Russian Crimeans was imminent. When MAIDAN publicly stated their plan to commit genocide against Russians in Ukraine, it is easy to see why the vast majority of Crimeans voted to secede and unify with Russia.
I'm just thinking: What does Russia want from this invasion? The Ukraine was always part of Russia. Kiev was the first Russian city. What do they want? Do they want the Ukraine to be part of Russia again. Would that be bad? Or do they want to steal all the grain? Not good. What do they actually want?
They want to destroy the 46 level 4 bioweapons labs that nato and deepstate installed there..they want to kill actual nazis and save children from trafficing

They want a neutral, well-governed country on their border.
Read my comment above to help answer that question.
