Have fires ever straight up ravaged places there like this before? This just doesn't seem right. The force and power of these fires is out right insane. For people not even able to escape and buildings being flattened. It's crazy to me what these fires are doing. I never remember seeing stuff like this before 2015 where entire cities and blocks are completely flattened over night.
No. Lahaina is a historic town with limited developable area, its real estate is some of the most expensive in Hawaii.
I've never seen fires like this and in California until recently.

I was fortunate enough to visit there a few years ago. Got my wedding ring at Na Hoku. It's hard for me to believe how the fire spread into the town and leveled everything so fast. Such an awesome place. Just so devastating.
Yeah I've been there i think 4 times because my parents had a time share there. We loved going downtown to front street. I hope they rebuild quickly and make it better than before. Plant some banyan trees :(

Unless you have been there and know, how would common sense tell someone the rainfall patterns of some random island in the middle of the ocean?
I lived on the Big Island for 2 years. Before going there I thought it was all lush & tropical. One side is lush, the other like Texline, Texas volcanic rock, cattle and all.
