Could it be that the smart meters provided coordinates? Not saying they did, but a phone is not fixed to a wall and a car navigation system is meant to move. Just food for thought -not discussion... although my week off was refreshing...

Typically the wiring connection of such devices aren't capable of pushing that much energy. There would have to be a way that that little box commanded some other asset to do such a thing. This theory is less believable than a large aircraft or satellite harnessing the power to deploy a laser beam... unless a whole lot more can be some how done with traditionally low voltage capable wiring or lasers being way more efficient that previously thought.
