It has always been called that. The point of the room is for all of the candidates and their representatives to try to spin their platforms and debate performances to make them look good. Their rep carries a big stupid stick that looks like something off of one of those game shows where you try to beat each other off of some platform. The stick has the candidate's name up and down the stick on a 3 or 4-sided placard so the news media can find them to ask questions.

It is a big spectacle but I think it serve a good purpose - to try to get their messages out in a controlled setting.

That's likely why Fox did not admit Trump's surrogates.
