It does have consequences. Abortions cause scar tissue in the womb making it harder to have babies.
That last name...
I would try to explain this till I was blue in the face to people who did not understand the concept of celibacy till marriage, the use of birth control in marriage, and remaining modest in appearance, to not advertise their sexual attractiveness, basically religious conservatism. Animals do not have sex outside of the mating behavior that is done for the purpose of procreation, period. I am not saying that is wrong for a man and woman in marraige to enjoy each other, but the natural consequence of that is pregnancy, if God blesses them. I was born in 1950, and I remember a time when moral behavior regarding sex was practiced. Sure, prostitution had been around forever, as had been rape, but once censorship was eased in media, movies and television, and once birth control and abortion became as easy to get as buying a toothbrush, promiscuity went off the charts. Throw in free porn on the internet, available to 8 year old children, normalization of sexual perversions, in your face perversions, as a society we began to free fall morally. There are animals that mate for life, but they mate in season. You would think that God's greatest creation, mankind, would have managed to achieve what was expected of us, as laid out in the 10 commandments. I read an excellent break down of Saint Augustine's thesis on what "original sin" is. He explained that it was the sin of sexual urge outside of reason, outside of the moral codes and laws in religion, that we were born with it, that our bodies contained it because even if we practiced fervently prayer and lived our lives according to scripture, that urge would pop up (in a mans case, literally) regardless, and unless mankind could control it, it would lead him to further sin and amorality. It is not that an innocent baby sinned, it is that being human, we were born with this flaw of mindless sexual desire, and it would lead us to temptation to act on it when we reached physical maturity with the ability to procreate, thus the idea of baptism, in baptism, either in infancy or puberty, the parents or the young adult are being brought into the body of Christ to act accordingly, our bodies now are a temple for the Holy Spirit, and we can be free of sin if we "follow the rules", and avoid the 7 deadly sins. Without that moral and religious clarity, we fall lower than animals, we go against nature. Satan, the serpent, was present on God's creation from the start of humanity, and the battle has been going on for centuries, millineum. The final battle, I pray, is going on right now, that is the Great Awakening, awareness of this battle. It requires us to look at all of life in a new paradigm, not just what is happening in DC, or Rome, or Israel, but in ourselves. Confess, claim your birthright to holiness, amend your life to the will of God, and pray daily, or 12 times daily, to fight temptaion, from Lust, Greed, Envy, Wrath, Pride, Sloth and Gluttony- human nature is born to these if we do not refine ourselves for God's purpose.
Very nice. And good advice for all. We have desires given us by God, and it is our duty to manage and control them. Thank you.
Joke's on them.
This is ridiculous, just looking at statistics alone the number of guilty priests is the same or less than any other demographic. It’s never been acceptable and the Church along with its laity have been working proactively to protect children.
Any institution with humans is prone to sin. There are so many good priests in the world giving their lives to do God’s work.
Agree! Well said.
I even know of a statistic that shows the number of sexual assaults from priests vs teachers was about 200 for the former and 20,000 for the latter. All bad, obviously, I'm not saying the priests are better for doing less sexual assaults, they should do NONE, but it's pretty clear that pedophiles are going to find more victims in a school than a church. Percentage of kids in a church community? Maybe 10%. Percentage of kids in a school? 100%. The pedos are going there.
What about the priests that get moved around and never found guilty?
What about them? That happens with every institution that hides corruption, aka anything with a sizable amount of people. Stop with the whataboutism.
I will not. Its a highly relevant point that is almost exclusive to the catholic church due to its size and organization.
Let's stop perpetuating fake news.
