New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) issued an order Friday suspending, for 30 days, state residents’ rights to carry guns for self-defense in Albuquerque.
The ban applies to concealed and open carry
Associated Press reported that the governor made the move in response to gun violence in the city of Albuquerque.
KOB4 noted the ban on carrying guns begins September 8 and runs for 30 days, after which the governor will make a decision about extending it.
When questioned about her order’s impact on
the Second Amendment
the governor stressed her belief that
no constitutional right … is intended to be absolute
The order came days after an 11-year-old boy was murdered in Albuquerque.
- THE FOLLOWING PATRIOTS IN NM STATED:
Albuquerque police chief Harold Medina responded to the governor’s order by making clear he will not enforce it. Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen indicated he is concerned the order violates New Mexicans’ constitutional rights.
Legal challenges to the ban are expected.
Hmmmmmm..... I had no clue that SCRUNTS grow wild in New Mexico.
Needs to be taken care of with a well placed vhax, and numerous BOOSTAHS
To ensure that the roots of this wild SCRUNT are fully destroyed.

Mandates do not obligate performance/compliance. Enforcement of this is would be a criminal act against inviolable individual rights. Popcorn material.
C'mon man, it's only for a couple of weeks till we flatten the curve...just common sense
This is not a law and its not legal. If they even attempt to stop someone from carrying everyone involved is in for a world of hurt
There are scanners along the interstates in Chicago to look for suspicious amounts of ammo or weapons in vehicles. I have close connections who have had personal friends pulled over and searched. They will monitor a specific location and collect data then in a month or two show up in force and raid the "offenders" liberty safe... it's how they roll. [They] are definitely hoping to catch just a few of the most troubling chattle... it's a set up like J6.
Defy her and carry anyhow and if arrested sue. Contact ACLU. The legislature, not the governor makes laws.
This is a civil disobedience non compliance situation. If you are licensed to carry you must continue to do so. Fight it out in court. If no one complies it’s over.
It's good to fight this out now on a small scale.
someone also said they have to get our consent but couldn't find those old postings. They know we don't want it. Does that mean they don't care about our consent either?
Some group with funding, legal connections, and folks willing to take the heat should spread out in the state and test open carry.
New Mexico is one of the poorest states (#3)...
Perfect playground for manipulating people for cheap and crisis actors into a FF, just to start up the gun rhetoric again.
It's a huge state and not a lot of money there...
