Anchor babies and chain migration are not limited to illegals. A person could come here on a student visa, get pregnant, and have the baby in the US. That's still an anchor baby. It helps the mother (and often other family members) stay in the US longer than their visa would have allowed. The same thing applies to chain migration.
It just adds insult to injury when the person who does either is illegal.
So it depends on what country the person has dual citizenship with if you believe it's a threat to America? Slovenia has sided with Ukraine in this most recent conflict with Russia. Does that affect your opinion?
So, hypothetically, if our next President is a Democrat and has a spouse and child with dual citizenship in Mexico, would you take issue with that? What if they're Canadian? Or Israeli?
I, personally, think that we should hold the same standards for everyone. No matter what their nationality is, they should be treated the same. Because I think it's hypocritical to say we can trust the loyalty of someone based on where they were born. If one person can be believed to be loyal to the US no matter their country of birth, then all the others in that situation should be treated the same. I take the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution seriously. They're both full of the ideas of "all men are created equal" and the laws we have for equal rights. But that's just me. 🤷
Such a conversation is not appropriate here as assumptions are made on intent or purpose that are not accurate. Going back and forth appears to create even more assumptions to fit a debate model. There's an inability, or perhaps, unwillingness to "listen" using this medium. have a good night.
