Culpeper's Complete herbal. -This book has lots of temperate garden herbs in it, with detailed descriptions of how to prepare medicines. First Aid Garden Essentials IMO are Feverfew; Willow; Chamomile - for fevers. Calendula for heart; Comfrey and Tobacco, for injuries.
The Barefoot Doctor's guide. - This book has an extremely interesting section on pressure points - accupuncture. The real gift is to learn about the nerves, and ways to deal with pain. The herbs described are Chinese, and may be difiicult to source, unless one has access to a Chinatown.
Spiritual Midwifery - this book is written by a survivalist group of families who did not agree with the mechinized baby factory farming that is the maternity hospitals and associated medicalized systems.
How better to co-op society and enslave the people than to hijack the medical, educational and financial institutions. Now the people will be sick, ignorant and poor. They are putty in your hands. Add an infiltrated media, government and weaponized intelligence agencies and the deed of take over is done.

In case anyone wonders how much was known about good diet before WWII, there was a letter written to Winston Churchill by his wife that mentions the poor diet of the natives on one of the British held islands. Too much starchy foods, and not enough protein in their diets. It's in "The Last Lion" book 2.

The thing you have to appreciate is the AMA had a "staff censor" for years. That always cracks me up.
