Seriously? That is the law? I am finding myself shocked, and after the last few years, I thought I was shock proof. No wonder some wit said no good deed goes unpunished. Good luck.

Well, she DID have good luck. Guy has to be out in two weeks. If he doesn't go, then she pays the Sheriff to come throw him out. And of course she has to pay to get locks changed, just in case. Clown world, but a win for now.
