So much shit going wrong with the world today and there is a lot of tragedy everywhere, but I have a bad feeling if the world forgets about Lahaina, the people responsible will get away with one of the most horrific events that ever happened to a population and it greatly disturbs me.

Unfortunately the world forgets almost everything, almost immediately.
Squirrel!
A squirrel will bury up to 35000 nuts each fall and remember where 70% of them are buried.
Is that a legit number for squirrels? Amazing.
From one of the nature shows I loved before they became insufferable climate propoganda.
Ah yes, amazing how a simple show about squirrels can suddenly turn into "the planet is dying slowly because of YOU and this cute little squirrel is suffering daily, unable to collect his life-sustaining quota of nuts, because of YOU, so you should make yourself suffer and all your friends too!" Then a cut scene to coal power plants and strip mining with heatwaves everywhere...
A year has 365 days.
That would be 100 nuts a day, 10 per hour for 10 hours each day, one every 6 minutes, with no rest.
… and it’d be actually twice more, considering that for half a year there isn’t any new nuts to bury.
So yeah, I think it’s a bit overestimated ;)
Okay, thanks for applying our friends logic and reason ;-)
So I decided to go to the great fount of all tru COUGH COUGH COUGH.
Sorry, I googled it and found that squirrels can collect up to 10,000 nuts each fall, and can collect at a rate of up to 25 per hour.
However, there must have been some popular study done because loads of pages referenced them forgetting the location of up to 74% of the nuts they bury. And to compensate for that, they've been given great sniffers.
