The larger issue is that there shouldn't be any mail-in ballots.
(Except in a few special circumstances, of course).
No - there should be no mail-in ballots period. Absentee ballots (for military, seniors, etc) are different. They have to be requested. The stupid mail-in ballots in many places were just sent to every address they could reach, by the handful. Oregon started this crap in 1998, with their first complete mail-in election in 2000. Gee - I wonder why they are entirely blue and crazy there?
..sent to every address they could reach based on voter rolls with hundreds of thousands of extra/invalid names so the ballots could be reused to cover people who didn't vote. Insidious plan indeed.
"Absentee ballots (for military, seniors, etc) are different. "
Those are the "special circumstances" to which I was referring.
One of which is like my parents. Doing the RV life, legit registered to vote in our state, but have mobility issues (the irony is not lost on me). They do the early voting, but have to go through a huge process to do it, and they have to drop it off, I cannot deliver for them. Indiana has that going for it at least.
Voting should be on election day. Show up or don't vote.
Agree, with this exception. The vote is counted on election day. To put it in for early voting, they have to provide birth certs, state ID, proof of address, signatures, be registered to vote, pre-approved at least 60 days before election day, and a typed statement for the legit need to submit early (ive heard these get turned down regularly).
Oh, and they need turned in in-person so many days before the election
I concur but at the same time it will require a nation wide national standard that the majority of the States adopt for that to be a reality.
I totally agree with you.
