That's because the emphasis should be in serving, not governing.
The best men would gladly serve their brethren, just for the sake of serving.
I agree. Lay yourself down to be the road for your fellow citizens sort of thing.. 'tread on me'.
"But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant."
Didn't expect to see a quote by George MacDonald here. One of my favorite authors.
Also CS Lewis favorite too
Mine as well. It's a true rarity in today's age to find another who has read any of his books.
I hear you, brother. I've read several of his stories for children, and I've been making my way through a book of his sermons.
I have always said most of my life that the people who most want power are the ones least deserving of it.
That's why the best Presidents are the men that didn't want the job. I do believe Trump was telling the truth back in 1980 or whenever it was when he told Rona Barrett he wished someone LIKE him would do it, but that he didn't want to. George Washington didn't want to be President either. They would have made him King for his lifetime. I do believe Providence has played a hand in some of the people that were essentially compelled to serve.
I like this.
Trump breaks the mold. He is the best of the best men: He sacrificed much wealth and lavish leisure time for US. He doesn't want to govern his fellow man; he wants to liberate and elevate him.
Right! It is like herding cats and drives good people crazy.
