I think your cracking of the H2O into is constituent parts will be the hardest part. Sure, electrolysis can do the job, but it takes a while for that process to happen. Unless you can string together a bunch of crackers. Then the storage of the hydrogen will be ssssommmmewhat problematic, but overcomeable. What will you power the crackers with? Hydro or solar panels? Lots of $$ just for the infrastructure and then the results will be slow to collect and not much product. I remember my high school science projects with cracking H2O in a test tube. Slow but interesting.
One Industrial unit I looked at provided enough volume to run the generator, I thought my problems would lay in getting it dialed in for hydrogen, but in powering the set up 2500k of solar with a dual redundant powerwall one discharging the other charging...my meter's is on the guest house making it easy to zero out the usage in the main house...cheap no...just barely possible yes..
