The National Debt Clock is owned and maintained by the Durst Organization, which was founded by Seymour Durst, a New York real estate magnate who adjusted the tally via modem until his death in May 1995. After his death, his son Douglas became president of the Durst Organization, which owns and maintains the clock. Artkraft Strauss has been keeping the figures current since then.
Are you sure about this? I'm asking because there are 2 debt clocks and the Durst ownership was unclear if it was this one or the other. I tried finding out for certain before but gave up since everything just mentions the debt clock but not which one.
No idea why it is so difficult to figure out which is which.

Fantastic information! Thank you for digging. I have not heard of either the Durst Organization or Artkraft Strauss.
Can you imagine adjusting tallies via modem? That is dedication to a cause.
I’m sure he had a super fast 1200 bps modem….
Ha! I can just hear those beeps and tones now. Brings back memories.

Sounds like further digging will be necessary.
