Frankly they’ve had numerous wide scale periods of unrest. Defections to the Protesters from among the IRGC. Which is essentially the paramilitary Regime stormtroopers who do the bulk of Civilian intimidation and Riot Suppression. Iranian Regular Military loyalty is reportedly increasingly suspect. As is the Allegiance and Loyalty of whatever passes for Civilian Police there. Allegedly protesters were allowed into secure installations during some rounds of unrest by inside men. Resulting in the disappearance of Military Hardware and Weapons.

There’s alleged record numbers of Christian Converts creating an extremely sizeable Christian Minority.

Tensions with various ethnic Militias particularly in Rural/Mountainous regions have been flaring. Partially believed fueled by infusions of foreign Money and Military support from both Western and Nonwestern sources.

Public Broadcasters and Propagandists have broken from approved Regime talking points live on TV and subsequently fled the country.

A group allegedly comprised of Current and Former Iranian Military, Police, and National Security Forces. Has allegedly claimed responsibility for numerous acts of sabotage of Government projects. Though it’s strongly suspected aforementioned group is a front for foreign intelligence.

Their domestic situation is tenuous. But they much like the Chinese can’t and won’t show weakness on the international stage

I like Vctor Davis Hanson, but he recognizes where the trip wires are that determine his income. The following statement reads like it comes from Israel,

"Tehran proudly supplied and funded Hamas’s savage murdering of Jewish children in Israel."

That's a pretty loaded statement.... Half of the Gaza Palestinian population are children. If you examine the death toll in Gaza it's a hundred fold more than in Israel. Even CNN gets it right about the number of children killed in Gaza. Another source says over 2000 children in Gaza have been killed.

Iran is more formidable than many people would like to believe. It would be a big mistake of the United States became the zombie fighting force for Israel's desire for land expansion.

I don't know what "world" Hanson is referring to, but if its planet Earth, this isn't very true at all. There's a reason why Iran is getting rich and their economic successes doesn't necessarily travel through Washington DC.
