Five Ways Your Privacy Is Under Attack – And How To Protect It
https://www.thelastamericanvagabond.com/five-ways-privacy-under-attack/
Good article on digital privacy, much of which you probably already know:
- get a VPN
- stop using apps, the number one way to compromise your device. Go old school — use the browser to type in the address.
- get a "dumb phone" and leave phone at home as much as you can
- don't get SMART devices (TV, doorbell, etc.)
Some scary shit on Smart Cities, but again the solution is simple(ish):
...However, for many, many people, leaving the city is not a viable solution. In that case, oppose the implementation of Smart City technology at City Council, Town Council, School Board meetings, Tower Commissions, Wireless Commission, County Commissioner meetings etc. Attend meetings, organize in your community, run for local offices, and stop these policies before they even begin.
If we do nothing but complain on the internet, or give in to apathy, we are only failing ourselves and setting up future generations for a world without privacy and without liberty. Instead, I believe all free people should start taking steps to remove themselves from slavery systems, and begin supporting and/or building parallel systems outside of the mainstream. I call this Exit and Build. ...
Exit and build--very good. We do need to build small local alternatives to--pretty much everything at this point.
My constant suggestion is to start donating REGULARLY to your local private school or to a home school association.
You think VPNs work? They work against a scammer… but not against the intelligence agencies running the software companies that sell you the VPN.
If you want to make it tougher only use TOR with VPN to search internet. But they will get you if they want to, and nothing you can do about it.
Some have even argued that using TOR with a VPN was like painting a target on you back, and actually encouraged the Intel agencies to have a look at you.
Exactly
Don’t need one. Don’t respond to emails you are not expecting, or know nothing from the sender.
Don’t visit sites you have no businesses visiting
Government will always know where you are at all times… remember how McCain was found hanging out with ISIS?
Even if you don’t have or use a smart device. Others do, and there is software that recognizes face and voice… nothing is private.
Most VPNs log your IP addresses and activity anyway… it’s a never ending debate on which ones do & don’t. ProtonMail and ProtonVPN, were supposed to be mega-ultra secure and look what happened to both. Everyone’s trying to dodge the way the Internet evolved and works with NAT.. there is always a way to track your ingress and egress IP address if someone is motivated enough.
