Katherine touches on this in the conversation, that these training disciplines “separate students from their consciences.” My hunch is selecting for traits - defects? - that coldly dispense with morality and empathy is at the heart of how generational continuity is maintained across establishment institutions, from elite universities to military intelligence to government / civil service etc. And likely in high finance and business too.
