Was just talking to my neighbor. Said he was on the way to get the RSV shot. He said he doesn't even know what RSV is or what it does but his doctor told said it'd be good for him to get because of COPD.
I was like holy shit, wtf happened to personal responsibility? Research? Anything?! He's getting a shot for something he doesn't even know what it is just because someone who is financially incentivized told him to go get it.
Two responsibilities there, but the person in the authority position (doctors) have the greater burden of ensuring the patient is informed.
There's a reason why we do not generally allow bosses to have relationships with subordinate employees, or college professors having relationships with their adult students.
Having an authority over someone means you have the greater responsibility to act appropriately.
