Thanks, glad to hear it. Just haven't actually been sick to use it since I've had it in pill form. I've taken them just to take now and then (just to take when others are sick to ward off anything) but that doesn't tell me if they work when I'm sick, you know?
I'm fixing to buy more along with some other items, to have on hand.
Well, just be careful; start with a lower dose than you think. I think I tend to take too much and it makes me pretty sick, ironically..... Did you get what; 10-12 mg pills?
Cut those puppies in half & document when you took it, so you don't over-dose yourself!
IVM is extremely safe, but that doesn't mean it can't ruin your stomach if you overdo it!
You can't actually overdose.....would take something like 50+ pills...
Have 6mg & 12 mg. I've taken both before (at different times) and haven't had any side effects thankfully. But I've only taken them while not sick, just to take every once in a while, just not when I've been sick to see how it does. The one time I was sick (I believe a year or two ago) I only had the paste at the time, and it helped a great deal.
I've been trying to see how much I can give my 90-100 lb dog who has bad allergies & hives, it's hard to find a correct dose. Husband took him to the vet the other day and the vet gave him an allergy shot (cytopoint injection) and it's not helping at all, he actually seemed a little off for a day or two afterwards. Now I'm not sure if it's safe to give him ivermectin for a month or so because I don't know if those two meds can be taken together, even though it's been a few days since he got that shot, it's supposed to last a month+.
Our dog is a large pitbull and everyone we've talked to who has or had them say they always have allergy/skin issues. So, we thought let's give ivermectin a try, because their normal heartworm preventative doesn't have ivermectin in it and it's time to give our pups their treatment.
Ah, that's a great idea, taking IVM when not sick.....
a) It won't kick you when you're down; if you get side effects, at least you won't ALSO be dealing with your cold / flu / whatever
b) Any side effects are more obvious & can be dealt with pre-emptively.... you know what you're getting into... Smart!!!
I'm a little mixed on it....not sure how much it has helped me vs. if it's really given me side effects.....
I have a bunch & am still going to keep trying it, but I just need to better monitor / journal / log my symptoms, dates & times, etc. etc. I can't say definitively how it impacts me. I think it seems to reduce the severity & length of my colds / flus.
My wife just keeps telling me that she thinks I seem to get worse when I take it.... IDK.....
It's definitely just me tho; IVM is literally a miracle drug. My experiences in no way diminish the value & amazing properties of this drug!
And allergies & hives for a pupper.....hmmm..... I'm sorry for your doggo. Give him some extra pets & "good boys" tonight, from me. :-)
Few thoughts / ideas you could try for your dog (and some are useful for humans too!!):
Example; one of my cats licks soap.
Yes. Seriously. The bars of ivory I keep on the sink to lather up & wash my hands.
He licks. 😑🤦♂️😑🤦♂️😑 Is there any chance there's something like that your dog is secretly ingesting / chewing / licking anything at all that could cause allergies?
Have you tried different detergents & such? meaning if they have a dog bed, what soaps / detergents do you use to wash it? Do you use fabric softeners on the dog beds, etc?
Just look at literally EVERYTHING in his environment with fresh eyes, if you haven't already....
Here are a few links I found that seem to have some great ideas. Hope it's of some help.
Poor pupper.....breaks my heart when animals are sick because we can't explain what's going on....😓😭😭 Just give him extra love.
