I see some hanky panky in the 1976 election as it was another close election. They needed to get President Ford out of office no matter what.

No, he was elected as a dark horse in the DNC race with split votes AND a media that would not stop the *drumbeat *of Watergate along with CIA operatives posing as media with amazing scoops constantly from "deep throat".
