Maybe this holiday season is a good time to have that "special talk" with friends and neighbors.

Whew... I never swore allegiance to the church, just to Christ.
I guess I am safe then!
I don't understand your logic, though. Can you name the years in which God is allowed to reveal his secrets to his servants the prophets (Amos 3:7)? So the 1800s are all out... what about the 1700s or 1900s? Is God forbidden from speaking to his prophets in those centuries too?
Can you tell me where in the Bible it says God will not speak to prophets in the 1800s?
Revelation 22:18-19 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.
Deuteronomy 4:2 Verse Concepts You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
Proverbs 30:6 Verse Concepts Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.
Proverbs 30:5-6 Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.
Deuteronomy 12:32 Verse Concepts “Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add to nor take away from it.
Matthew 22:29 Verse Concepts But Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God.
Mark 7:13 Verse Concepts thus invalidating the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down; and you do many things such as that.”
Genesis 3:1-4 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.read more. Matthew 24:24 Verse Concepts For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

When Revelation and Deuteronomy were written, the two strongest verses against adding or changing the Bible, the Bible didn't exist. You cannot say that those verses apply to the entire Bible unless you ignore the factual history of how these things came to be. In the case of Deuteronomy, if you hold that it applies to the whole Bible, then every book after Deuteronomy except Job are null and void!
I have exposed your ignorance. By dumping even more ignorance, you do not make yourself look smarter but you make it clear that you have a shallow understanding of this topic.
Let me add Amos 3:7: Surely God will do nothing but he reveals his will to his servants the prophets. In other words, God has promised NOT to act unless he informs his prophets first, and so without prophets there can be no activity on behalf of God.
Matthew 24 does indeed warn us of false prophets and christs. How do we tell the false ones from the true ones? Why would he warn us of false prophets and christs if every prophet or christ is false? He should just say, "Don't believe in prophesy anymore, despite the past 4,000 years. I am going to shut the heavens and not reveal any more of my words to anyone, so don't even bother asking for knowledge, revelation, or information."
But indeed, he tells us to seek, ask, and knock, and he promises us that we will find, get answers, and the doors will be opened. How can we get answers except prophets are there to speak on his behalf?
Look, it's obvious to any Christian that Joseph Smith was a false prophet. Follow him at your peril. Good day.
It's obvious to this Christian that Joseph Smith is a true prophet.
Your statement is therefore false.
