In the meantime what? She has to stop taking the poison. Print out a few articles about the dangers of statins for her.
I knew I should've clarified--
I meant what she should do for herself for cholesterol in the meantime.
It's going to take some doing to undo all the brainwashing and convince her that cholesterol is brain food.
I guess I could use some anti-inflammatory food ideas, too.
I've been researching berberine, it seems to have lots of nifty effects, including reducing cholesterol and inflammation.
Edit: Reducing cholesterol isn't the right way to say that. It helps your body metabolize lipids and whatnot, so if I remember correctly, it increases good cholesterol and reduces bad.
Berberine also helps lower blood sugar, and I’ve lost about 10 pounds as well.
Nice! Blood sugar is actually the main reason I started taking it. My A1C is too high for comfort (supposedly I'm predisposed to T2 diabetes due to gestational diabetes in one of my pregnancies), so I thought I'd give it a shot along with some improvements in my diet and see if I can keep it from going higher. Hopefully, I'll see some weight loss as well.
How high is it? If it's not that much higher than what is considered average or appropriate, it might not be that bad. A lot of doctors are now saying that high cholesterol in older folks isn't as bad as once thought. Remember, they want to sell you pharmaceuticals so the 'ideal' range was probably calculated tight so that if you were a little out of it, you'd be put on drugs. Check out the big Youtube doctors for more info, like Dr. Huberman and Berg D.C.
Anti-inflammatory: grass fed red meat with plenty of fat. Olive oil. Seed oils are pro-inflammatory. Many supposedly safe vegetables are pro-inflammatory. But no food will help much while she continues to take the poison.
Eat oatmeal, 1 small bowl a day and take 1 or 2 (no more as it will thin the blood) of fish oil or Omega 3's. This should help keep it lowered if she sticks with it. This is what I do.
