It could also be a pop. Loud "p" sound (plosive) into the mic that causes the compressor to kick in so hard that you can't hear the rest of the word. This is to protect the PA speakers and the eardrums of those listening
Agree. But if my theory is correct, we didn't hear (ironically) "resident" because the compressor brought the output level down to prevent speakers from making 10000 people deaf. Just a theory.
It's a good theory but I just can't see it. There isn't time for the word 'resident' before the word 'of', whether it was compressed or not. Also, a compressor would level the sound, not make it and a little smidge of time disappear completely.
I think there is something funky with the video. Probably completely innocent, but funky nonetheless. I wish I'd watched this one live.
Edit to add: Ironically is right about the 'resident' part. :-)
What happened right when he was starting to say 'president'? There was a glitch in the matrix or something. Did anyone else notice that?
Yep. Watch it at .25 speed and the video glitches/is spliced right after "47th". Right at 0:17-0:18. Of course.
Nope. It was edited out. I found the whole speech on YouTube RSBN it is there, fully intact.

Sorry for YouTube link

It was just a pop though. No 'resident' or the rest of any word came after the popping P.
Edit: Not even sure I hear a popping P now that I just listened again. It goes from glitch to the word 'of'.

Yeah. I think the second black cat stepped on a cord or something.
