COVID must be officially over as H‑E‑B has removed all checkout barriers and removed the 6 foot stickers from the floor after just 2 years! I was over joyed now being able to speak in a normal volume to the cashier. I’m sure this will set a precedent as other stores will have to follow suit.

HEB started going away from 24 hours quite a while ago. When I moved from the Austin area to Florida in 2014 the local (to me) HEBs had already started closing at 0100. I was upset because the absolute best time to shop there was between 1 and 2am when nobody was there - I was in and out in under 20 mins.
Unfortunately when I moved back to Texas I moved to an area that doesn't have HEBs, so I only get there if I am driving to Dallas, Austin, or Houston.
I loved shopping then. You are correct, being able to get in & out in 20 minutes with a week full of groceries was awesome!
