Shudders. The rats have been eating something dead, hence the rat-bite fever. Being bitten by a pet rat that eats carrots and sunflower seeds just isn't the same.
Human remains may contain blood-borne viruses such as hepatitis viruses and HIV, and bacteria that cause diarrheal diseases, such as shigella and salmonella (Ed: among others).
Yup. Same conditions as WWI trench warfare. They can't pick up all the chunks. Most of them are pre-cooked. That's Ukraine's male population -- dead and being eaten by rats. God help us. Shudder is right.
Yep Trench Warfare at its finest. in WW1 they had delousing stations. the troops related that they didn't kill the lice "but they gave them a Jolly good scare"
rat-bite fever for now. It is just a matter of time, however.
Looks more like comms than anything to me.

Apparently there has been a thaw in the last few days, and the rat population explosion became so visible that MSM is reporting on it.
And it is in trenches on both sides.

Same problem occurred during previous wars. Warmer weather combined with plenty of food due to unharvested fields.
