First, he is the one that coined the term "true believer", with that book.
Secondly, it is very relevant to today and the mass formation/pysops that our government has been utilizing against us.
Finally, it is a deep dive. Hope it doesn't put you to sleep while driving, lol.
Good reminder, I need to read it again.
Desmet Mathais(sp) just wrote a book called Totalitarianism that takes a more scientific approach to Hoffers brilliant book and recommend it for reading afterwards.
For sure, MLK was classically educated.
There are others of course. For me, though, Douglas and Sowell are towering giants that always come to mind.
Take away the color of their skin and they stand just as tall.
Amazing human beings that will always be remembered.
One of my bucket list items is to take Thomas Sowell out for dinner and be able to spend an hour or two with him before he leaves us.
He is up there in age.
His mentor was Eric Hoffer and I have read everything Hoffer published for public consumption.
First question would probably be, "what was your first impression of Hoffer, the man."
Probably will not happen, but he is the person currently alive, that I'd want to have an hour with.
Even more so than the Trumpster.
Thanks for expanding my reading list, fren.
My pleasure, fren!
On a road trip and have eight hours to read. Downloaded the only eBook by Hoffer available, The True Believer. Seriously, thanks.
Oh wow, let me give you heads up.

Downloaded the audio of Totalitarianism for the ride home. Desmet Mattias, BTW.
Thanks for the heads up and background on Hoffer. Onward to chapter II.
Thanks!
